The principal sectors in which we work are listed below.

Regional and Local Development – a long-standing area of activity with a large number of regional plans and local investment programmes prepared and evaluated.

Agriculture and Rural Development – very extensive experience, especially regarding EU funding including the LEADER Programme.

Education, Training and Human Resources – policy studies, impact assessments and funding programme evaluations for national Government Departments and agencies.

Travel, Tourism and Leisure – public analyses, market research studies, strategic project identification and appraisal, and national and regional investment monitoring and evaluation.

Marine, Natural Resources, Environment – policy studies, and project and programme evaluations in such areas as marine tourism, EU fisheries investment and waste recycling markets.

Research, Technological Development and Innovation – Fitzpatrick Associates has carried out a large range of studies regarding the economic role of RTDI and the impact of public investment RTDI in colleges and companies.

Enterprise Development, Competitiveness, and SMEs – the firm has carried out policy analysis and programme evaluation of a wide range of enterprise development schemes and issues in both Ireland and new EU Member States, including the role and use of EU funding.

Public Service Modernisation – we have examined a range of public service issues in Ireland including public service pay levels and mechanisms, greater public service integration, and the customer orientation of public services.

Social Policy, Equality and Inclusion – we have undertaken studies in a wide range of aspects of social policy and social inclusion. These areas include childcare, homelessness, local authority inclusion services, educational disadvantage, and local development programmes.

International Development Co-operation - Fitzpatrick Associates has undertaken projects for international agencies, for non-governmental organisations and for Ireland’s development cooperation programme in a variety of developing countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and Vietnam.

EU Funding Programming – the firm was intimately involved in EU Structural and other funds programming in Ireland over the four funding rounds: 1989-99, 1994-99, 2000-06 and 2007-13. We are also involved in sharing the benefits of this experience with new EU Member States and accession countries.
